....this argument seems to be going around in circles.Look,
it is no secret that under RS we struggled to beat Caribbean rivals,as we did with CB.It is no secret that we won the Shell Cup twice with CB,along with a 3rd and 4th place in the Gold Cup.It is no secret that RS took us to the big dance in France 98,along with a Gold Cup 4th place finish, which included holding the "mighty" Brazil to 1 goal in 180 mins of play.Which one would you take to the bank for a loan?Which one has more collateral value?

If we're wanna be like T&T and judge our progress in world football by how much we beat up our neighbour islanders then fine. But as they have been finding out since 1989,winning the Shell Cup means nothing if you can't move to a higher level and compete with the stronger teams in CONCACAF and world football and this they have failed to do for the most part.

Hence,we must be careful in presuming that because CB had some success at the Shell Cup with little or nothing, then it stands to reason that with more support/funds/facilities etc he would be more successful than RS ever was. When the football has to be played at a higher level,CB will have a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate whether he has learnt anything in the last 7 years, such as the importance of scouting opposing players, and the use of computer models to depict team play and to build attacking and defensive play around it.Will he embrace these new tools/aids or will he stick to his rudimentary approach to coaching?Only time will tell.

It's not that winning the Shell Cup is not of any importance or value.Far from it.But it is of relative value when stocked up against qualification for the World Cup - many teams would even sell their souls to the devil just to get that chance.Thank goodness we didnt have to.

There seems to be the thought by detractors of Technical Director Brown that some supporters of Carl suggested that support of the quality and quantity afforded Simoes, if given to Carl will ensure his success.

That sentiment may well be out there. However, I have not seen one such suggestion. What I believe all those who love Jamaica's football ascribe to, is fair comparisons between Simoes' achievments and Carl's achievements?

We have been led to understand that the JFF has appointed Carl TD. Who among us, clammouring for the advancement of the Reggae Boyz on the world's stage, do not support giving Technical Director Brown support of the same magitude afforded Simoes? The answer must be "No one!".

Certainly, if that support is given a comparisons of the Prof's and Carl's tenue would then make for more meaningful debate.

Aside: Some persons are also making the mistake that screaming against Carl's appointment helps Jamaica's cause. I cannot see how that is possible.

Secondly - Success or failure of any football programme must rest with those at the very top. If as some persons say our program is in regression, the party to be blamed must be the bosses i.e. The JFF! Failure to lay the responsibility for our fortunes exactly where it lies will only encourage those in charge to 'play lightly' with our fledging Football Industry. We would have given "the bosses" the life-line of believing any failure can be foisted on their selected employees.

On of any boss' responsibility is selection of the team to ensure success. Dat a de JFF responsibility han no amount of dem pinting of finga caan change dat!

GET OFF CARL'S BACK! SUPPORT JAMAICA'S FOOTBALL by ENSURING THE LEVELS OF SUPPORT HE RECEIVES at the very least, IS AS THAT RECEIVED BY SIMOES.
