...ignores the tried and true? Isn't it silly leaders who do not learn from past successes? Did Simoes prior to '98 take the Reggae Boyz on years of touring and playing together that resulted in a TEAM REGGAE BOYZ?
Why did the JFF abandon that pattern/plan? Why has France kept her all-conquering '98 WC Team touring and playing even as she introduces new players into the mix?
Well, here is Simoes plan for TnT as taken from Flex's site....

Matches lining up for TnT. Breaking News By: Shaun Fuentes.
Trinidad and Tobago could end up with the opportunity to play warm-up matches against the likes of England, Scotland and Denmark later this year in preparations for the 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Recently reports of a match against Demark was relayed but according to FIFA Vice President Jack Warner, matches against England, Scotland and other countries that have already secured berths for the 2002 World Cup, could be reality as efforts are currently be made to have these arranged. "What we are looking to achieve is some matches for our senior team to get them ready for the Gold Cup. We are talking to countries like Denmark, Scotland and England and these countries that have already qualified for the World Cup. Very soon we shall see what games we have," said Warner. Warner, special advisor the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation, also had some good words to say about the work of Rene Simoes and his assistants. "The technical staff members are doing their best with limited resources. We don't have enough funding at this present time. But of course that will come. One of the biggest assets to football here is Simoes himself. I think once we have patience, we shall achieve," said Warner. Simoes also mentioned that he intends to play matches against Guatemala and Venezuela as TnT prepared for the Gold Cup which is scheduled to run from January 18 to February 18, 2002 in the United States. The German national under 23 team is also expected to come here for three matches next January. According to FCOTT CEO Peter Miller, the Germans will play three matches against a T&T Under 23 team at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Manny Ramjohn Stadium and Hasely Crawford Stadium. Miller added that there has been a lot of interest from overseas clubs to come here for training camps. "Obviously there has been a lot of interest from clubs like Newcastle for instance. When they were here last year, there biggest concern was the state of the pitches. But now they understand the developments that have taken place here and they are keen to come back next year," said Miller. He mentioned that Scottish clubs Falkirk and Aberdeen have also enquired about coming here for matches. " I would also like to see a South American club come here because of the technical staff we have here and also because of the interest in south American football there is now," said Miller. L-Sporto are also arranging to have Ghana club champions Young Hearts and Arnett Gardens of Jamaica come to T&T for matches around the PFL preseason period in 2002. New England Revolution and Miami Fusion of the MLS have also spoken of their desires to come and play games in this country," added Miller.

The members and leaders of the JFF needed to get off their collective sorry arses and WORK. Isn't the Reggae Boyz the greatest marketable product they have?
Nigeria has come calling. Why hasen't the JFF gone offering the Reggae Boyz as a good opponent for those wishing to prepare for WC 2002...that 2002 WC Finals which the JFF WORKED...HARD - (It cannot be looked at in any other way...can it?) AT GIVING THE REGGAE BOYZ HARDLY A CHANCE TO ATTEND. It is a crying shame that this group of players, better individually that the '98 bunch, were treated so shabbily by the JFF leaders. Fact is we, the Massive, were all dissed.

The main problem with the JFF is a lack of communicatio. Simple: We don't know what they have plan; if they have a plan at all; a wish list or whatever simply because they don't see if fit to communicate with their supporters.
These games may or may not become a reality for TnT. But the fact is, that with Simoes one can see a game plan, a wish list.
You see them seeking out potential sponsors not only for the team, but also to build a training center for their national teams. What are we doing? We the fans haven't a clue, do we? And the reason is because our Federation does not see the importance or the need to communicate with us.
Tell me this: How is the search for a new TD coming along? How close are we in getting a football facility in place? What are the plans for the upcoming youth tounaments? When was it announced that U/18 players would not be allowed to play in the NPL? A pro league will start in JA next. You think that ideas would be circulating in the media in a effort to get public feed back. But no, the JFF does not answer questions nor give out information. So what we the supporters are left to do: Dream, speculate, accuse and even keep others and ourselves interested in the RBz.
Glad for TnT. Hopefully they can now motivate us to get the ball rolling once again.
Now I am not saying that the JFF shouldn't be commended for all the work that they have done and continue to do for the game in Jamaica. I am also not saying that sponsorship ect. is easy to come by. What I am saying though is the need for communication. Let us share their burdens, dreams, concerns ect. They need to realize that we want to be a part of this wonderful thing...The RBz.
Suh please, mi a beg dem fi just chat to we. Tell us the plan because they represent us and not themselves. At least I hope they represent us and not themselves. I wonder sometimes though, but must still commend dem on the good that they have done so far.
Respect and irie ites! Charmin
