T&T Guardian. DEFENDING national champions Vibe CT105 W-Connection left here on Monday for Rome where they are expected to play against top Italian club Perugia which campaigns in the Serie A. The champions who have already won three trophies this season will meet Perugia in their first game tomorrow and the following day will take on a reserve Perugia team. Former W Connection midfielder Silvio Spann is a member of the Perugia reserve team. Connection will then travel to Germany to play a series of games against Bundesliga clubs, St Pauli on October 2, Oberhausen on October 4 and Union Berlin, beaten finalist of last season's German Cup, on October 5. The local team is expected to benefit from their games in Germany since fans will pay to see them in action and part of the gates will go to them. They return home on October 8, before again heading overseas to Martinique for their Caribbean Cup Championship game against racing Club of Haiti on October 11.

T&T on the move again! By the way Flex, do you think Rene has any plans to call Silvio Spann for the remaining Hexagonal games? It would be good to get him in the side.

T' - It would be nice to have Silvio on the team now to gain important exposure, but I dont think Rene will call him yet, to be honest the more our players get foriegn contracts the worst it is for T&T to a point, club commitments are hurting countries..........
W Connection drew 1-1 with Italian Serie A club Perugia on their first match of an European tour yesterday. Prolific striker Earl Jean netted for W Connection in the second half. After departing for Rome on Monday night Connection arrived in Perugia less than 14 hours before kick-off. But, according to reports, the national champs missed an excellent opportunity to clinch the winner against the full-strength Perugia outfit. Former Connection midfielder Silvio Spann, son of ex-Strike Squad member Leroy Spann, was a second-half substitute for the Italian club. W Connection will meet the Perugia reserves today from 3 pm Italian time (9 am TT time).

True Shatta, hopefully other Caribbean club teams will follow and we can finally get on the map and beat teams such as DC United (USA), Tampa Bay(USA), America (Mexico), etc, etc and other clubs out of our region, if we can also get sponsers and TV rights to help expose the Caribbean football on a whole, I saw club Reading of Haiti play and them boys can play some good ball, is only money keeping them back..

Flex: The Trinidadian clubs are unto a good thing. Besides the obvious motivation it brings to staff and players, only introduction to various different environments and exposure to higher calibre players/teams will drive standards of team play higher. The effect of this knowledge gained and exposure to more diverse ways of technical execution on the field of play will be cross fertilisation in the local leagues and a resultant raising of the levels of the local game.
I cannot for the life of me understand why we are not consistently entering these competitions.

Karl, I would say money is the biggest problem, the attendance in JA I understand is very supported, APROX: 1000's, so you guy's in JA should do better, unless politican thiefing the money, in T&T we dont normally get big crowds for PFL games, but things look's a little better since the 2001 season, only time will tell, good luck.

Flex: We in the Caribbean will never have the size market to realise any meaningful injection of funds at the gates. We will have to look at other avenues to acquire the necessary cash.
The necessary inflows must be though a comprehensive national maketing and profit sharing. Who will first get going on this necessary task? TnT or Jamaica?
I would say you have a head start. You already have your teams traveling and getting awareness in the wider marketplace. Our top teams must travel worldwide...form contractural arrangements and alliances, maketing efforts i.e. TV, Advertising contract for players, showcase domestic leagues, etc., etc.

Yes Karl we do have a head start, but again to much politican in Trinidad and the funds goes to something else except the team or putting back into the game....we need serious people who will actually die for the game.
