....expectations associated with the hiring of a TD?
Bibi or any other person who wants to be good at what he/she does....learns/is learning everyday. Bibi is Bibi!
You cannot expect a TD to be responsible for an all-island development of players. Impossible!
All-island development must be aided and abetted by the JFF...in conjunction with all persons working at various levels and on different facets of development.
It is not understanding how the process works that has the JFF spouting nonsense about not being responsible for this or that area of the Football.
To Break-it-down: The JFF has to be in charge of the total development of the local game. They must assemble the individuals to layout the concept of what is needed in each area. They must assemble through the use of the various experts/committees etc. the various white papers that will be geared to each area.
The National TD if he has that type of experience should be used only during the "Brain Storming" sessions. His job must be the National Senior Team....(or if the TD is the Chairman of all committees that are working together for development then another person must be the National Senior Team's TD. The same individual cannot be expected to carry both workloads).
The U-20 is on area. Another individual must be responsible for that area...with the attendant support persons.
U-17 separate areas etc., etc.
Development of the game at the school levels is also another set of areas. Committee responsible....etc., etc....and so..
Development of fields/stadia....
Development of training for coaches....
Development of referees......
Development of Sports Medicine cells/units
Marketing.....
Promotion......
Assembly of Legal/negotiating team for contracts (Sports Lawyers) for players.....
Assembly or contract hiring of negotiators for TV contracts etc.
...and so on
and the various parts must be interwoven so that where necessary the whole thing moves as far as possible in lockstep
In terms of playing - See RBSC "Do we have too much skills": Right now one of our downfalls is poor teaching of the TEAM CONCEPT. The tutoring is poor from cradle to....national team. What whole sale plan does the JFF have to deal with this problem? What is the concept out of which such a plan can be sold/taught to coaches/TDs in all institutions/clubs across the island. ....on and on, and on, and on....
How does each areas interact...e.g. How does the Sports Medicine unit for the National Senior Team interact with the Sports Medicine Unit of Cornwall or Harzard FC or the U-17 or...whatever....? And so it should be for all areas...be it groundsmen, coaching, building of stadia or whatever...
That all-emcompassing, all-embracing planning and execution is what a National Program is all about.
I hope I have given the concept out of which talent will rise...and eventually arrive in the national team...being put in the hands of the National Senior Team TD to expose and grow.
