Unlike any Jamaican political leader, Golding had his moment in late 1995 when a wave much bigger than anything he could ever fathom drove him (against his will?) against the orthodoxies of the time. In the period between his leaving the JLP and the formation of the NDM, he took a trip to the mountaintop to speak with the gods of Pragmatism and Blind Chance.

Nothing wrong with "turning". I pity those of us who will always vote one way or the other just because. At least Mark is prepared to assess the reality and come again. More of us should be like that.

After more than a year of JLP rule Wignall now admits that the JLP is no better than the previous PNP regime(s).... he actually believed the hype spewed from the campaign trail.... for an experienced media guy who is supposedly politically sophisticated... that is remarkable.
At least he has the honesty to admit his misconceptions.

The fact that Golding would blithely continue his partisan showcase AKA the JLP Annual Conference/CRIME SCENE.. in the face of of a brutal murder... ON THE STAGE!!!!... shows the rot and corruption of our political system and our (mis)leaders.
One can easily see the identical scenario at a PNP conference.... fish truly rots from the head.

The only thing worse.... not a peep from "civil society" and various interest groups!!!

As I have said before... the only hope for progress in Jamaica is some leader capable of bringing the main sectors in society together in a formal, publicly discussed SOCIAL CONTRACT... with education at the forefront.

Instead we are treated to a carnival of bickering, recrimination and trading of insults from our misleaders.... fully supported and justified by their mewling sycophants.

no you are incorrect re the time period .... i'm not particularly interested in scoring points... the PNP then is essentially operating in the same mode as today's PNP.
