I tell the story all the time. I drove miles to the Pontiac Silverdome to watch Brazil and Sweden. To be honest, the atmosphere in the stadium was marginally better than in the city of Detroit, which registered a fat ZERO on the Football-Frenzy Scale (aka FFS). I left the match dreading the long drive home and wondered if that was what World Cup fooball was really all about. Thank goodness, France changed all that, despite Jamaica's participation, of course.

I was at that match and sat among a lot of "Canadians" as we got tickets through the CSA. I say "canadians" as there were many Jamaicans there. The atmosphere was in the parking lot... that's it as the stadium is in the middle of nowhere..and even in the nowhere town, nutten was a gwaan and nobody knew there was a football match taking place.
