We all have read by now the reports from St. Kitts about the very unfortunate incident that took place there recently in a game involving the RBz and the host nation, St. Kitts.
For those who haven't, here it is in a nutshell: A Jamaican player received a red card during the first half -- Players protested -- Boyd was cut on the forehead by one of the Assistant Ref. (He received two stitches later to close the wound) -- Players then surrounded the Assistant Ref -- The Jamaican coaching staff left the bench and went on the field -- The Assistant Ref. received a cut that later required five stitches to close -- Game got delayed for 45 min., because the Jamaicans left the field --On resumption Robert Scarlett was immediately red carded -- The Jamaicans finished the game with nine men (Game ended in a 0-0 draw)...Thats basically the game, not sure of the order of events though.
When the Jamaicans were about to leave St. Kitts, enroute to Grenada, they were stopped while boarding the plane and received information that a law suit had been filed by the Assistant Ref. against Walter Boyd. They immedately seek the assistance of the St. Kitts Football Federation inorder to come to some sort of agreement and understanding.
The question now is, should the incident had been reported FiFa?
I ask this question here, of us, to see what we think, since the question was originally generated on another forum.
Personally, I say no! Why should we involve FiFa in this? Since this is not a FiFa santioned tournament, I believe that both Federation did the right thing by working this thing out together.
Should it be taken to the Caribbean Football (What is it?) Union, I believe?
That should be has far as it should go. But again, I say, NO! I believe that the way it was handled, by both parties, was in fact the correct way. Now if they could not come to some form of agreement then I could see the reason for taking it to the next level. And that should be were it ends...With the Caribbean Football..."
Should the JFF had taken steps against any RBz member for striking an official?
I say, yes. What sort of punishment should it be though? Fines, bans, lecture ect.
Should the JFF had taken the incident that happen in Trinidad to FiFa?
I say no. It is best when we as Caribbean nations can work these things out without the intervention of FiFa. If we can't, then that is another matter. I don't thin FiFa works in the best interest of small nations, in a football sense, like us.
