It's good and bad all rolled up in one.

Happy for the kids...but to the detriment of MLS.

I was getting a little worried about the number of U.S. youth players that were forgoing MLS pro contracts, to later sign with Euro teams, because it was reported that about 3-4 MLS clubs were thinking of reducing their investment in their academies, as they weren't seeing any returns. The USSF does not enforce the FIFA compensation system, BUT to ensure continued & increased investment in their academies, MLS opposed the USSF's position, in April, and now requires foreign clubs to compensate MLS academies for signing players they trained.
I hope all independent USL teams start a fully funded, free academy, to cover areas in need.
