JLP Councillor Crosses Floor In Trelawny Parish Council

    Published: Thursday July 11, 2013 |
    Adrian Frater, Gleaner Writer

The People’s National Party (PNP) now has a majority in the Trelawny Parish Council after Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor Lloyd Gillings crossed the floor this morning.

Councillor Gillings said he decided to switch sides as he felt he had not been getting the support he wants from the JLP.

He said he had been in discussions with the PNP for a while and he believes the switch will benefit his constituents.

As a result of Gilling’s decision, the PNP now has five members in the council, while the JLP has three.

The ninth seat is held by independent councilor, Paul Patmore.

Chairman for the PNP’s region one, Lisa Hanna, and Member of Parliament for North Trelawny, Patrick Atkinson, were both present and welcomed the move.
