"GOVERNMENT has recommended the privatisation of 16 public bodies, the amalgamation of 26, and the abolition of another 10 entities whose services will be contracted out under the proposed public sector rationalisation plan.
The recommendations, which will affect the 16 ministries and more than 200 entities, including departments, executive agencies and statutory bodies, are contained in a green paper tabled by Prime Minister Bruce Golding in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Included in the entities which could be privatised are the Caymanas Track Limited, Wigton Wind Farms, Petcom (six petrol stations), the Factories Corporation of Jamaica, parish cemeteries and the Rural Electrification Programme."
