Tax Administration clamps down on juice company
A Special Enforcement Team of the Inland Revenue Department on Monday morning swooped down on one of the island's major manufacturers of bag and box juices.
The operation, which forms part of the agency's ongoing drive to collect millions of dollars in outstanding taxes, resulted in the seizure of four vehicles by the agents.
“This morning we happened to visit this location at 99 Windward Road, Spike Industries, on account of outstanding taxes. These amounts have been long overdue and it is a significant amount of taxes that are outstanding,”
“We have meet with the respective principals of this organization and a proposal was made however to date that is not being fulfilled and as a result the Tax Administration via the Special Enforcement team had to take a decision,” said member of the Special Enforcement Team of the Inland Revenue Department, Robert Brown.
However he refused to divulge the outstanding tax liabilities of the juice manufacturer but noted that the company had been given numerous warnings.
