RJR News has been informed that Former Minister of Health Horace Dalley is now being considered as a top contender for the post of General Secretary of the People's National Party (PNP).
With Donald Buchanan set to step down from the post, members of the Party have reportedly approached Mr. Dalley to take up the mantle.
A source close to Mr. Buchanan says Mr. Dalley is giving the matter serious consideration and will indicate after Christmas if he will accept being nominated.
Our news centre has been informed that Party members are lobbying for Mr. Dalley to become General Secretary as they believe his political experience will significantly help the Party recover lost ground.
If Mr. Dalley accepts it will increase to four the number of persons being seriously viewed as candidates for the post.
The others on the list are former Deputy General Secretary Maureen Webber, National Organiser Basil Waite and Central Manchester MP Peter Bunting.
