A warrant has been issued for the immediate arrest of dance hall star "Beenie Man".
The warrant was issued after the DJ, whose correct name is Mosses Davis failed to appear in court to answer tax evasion charges Tuesday morning.
Resident Magistrate Owen Parkin expressed surprise that the DJ failed to appear despite the fact the case has been in the media.
The magistrate said no one is above the law and ordered that the warrant should go out immediately.
The tax authorities have alleged that Beenie Man owes the state $47 million.
$29 million of this amount is unpaid tax with penalty of $18 million.
He appeared in court last month when the matter was mentioned.
At that time the DJ said his former management company Shocking Vibes was responsible for paying all his taxes.
He was given a date to return to court Tuesday morning but when he failed to show the warrant was issued.
