Boys' Town continued their rapid rise in the Cash Plus Premier League standings when they slipped by Reno 2-1 at St Elizabeth Technical yesterday to secure third spot.
The Red Brigade, who move to 42 points, have now pushed their way past a stagnant Waterhouse who fall to fourth after a 3-0 mauling at the hands of Sporting Central at Brancourt.
Denzil Watson converted a Xavian Virgo cross to put Boys' Town ahead in the 18th minute, but saw the lead cancelled when Reno's Nyron Davis converted from the spot in the 53rd minute. However, substitute Oneil McDonald came off the bench to secure all three points for Boys' Town with a goal nine minutes from time.
At Brancourt, things continued to go sour for former champions Waterhouse. Following a scoreless first half, Ian Palmer put the home team ahead in the 50th minute and just four minute later Hughan Gray would increase their lead. Despite losing forward Oneke Ford who was sent off in the 80th minute, the Clarendon team would still manage to rub salt in Waterhouse's wounds when Winston Griffiths netted in the 85th.
Defending champions Harbour View also continued to struggle as they were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-placed August Town. Striker Rafiek Thomas put the Stars of the East ahead in the 13th minute and things looked safe when Marcelino Blackburn netted again in the 31st. However, August Town responded quickly through Jermaine Simpson in the 36th minute and secured a share of the points in the 68th minute through David Stultz. Harbour View remain fifth on 37 while August Town remain rooted to the bottom of the table on 23.
At the Tony Spaulding Complex, Tivoli kept the pressure on Portmore United at the top of the table following a 1-0 win over rivals Arnett Gardens. Craig Stewart scored for Tivoli in the 28th minute, after Arnett had been reduced to 10 men as Horace Sharp was given a straight red card in the 20th minute after elbowing Tivoli's Dwight Herron. Arnett had missed an opportunity to take the lead after Tivoli custodian Leon Gordon stopped a 17th-minute penalty by Fabian Davis. The penalty was awarded after Gordon rushing off his line had been ruled to have impeded striker Onandi Lowe in the area. Tivoli moved to 49 points temporarily leapfrogging leaders Portmore at the top of the table.
Portmore were set to tackle Seba in a late game at Ferdie Neita Park, while Seba were slated to play Village at Jarrett Park.
