If Lowe passes the ball when he is covered or when he has nowhere to shoot but at the goalkeeper...his teammates would score more goals. It would also force the defenders to play 'true' as they would know he would be thinking of passing if covered...that would translate into Lowe, at times, being covered by only one or two defenders...or praises be, wide open.
His present mode of hanging on to the ball regardless of the circumstances or the coverage he is receiving...allows the defenders to run at him in threes and fours...forcing him to his left...leaving acres of space behind themselves...and an open goal for Burton and or the other Jamaican players...as a safe play...because the whole world now knows Lowe will not...even if the Reggae Boyz life depend on it...will not look for a teammate in a better placed position.
This selfish play also makes it harder for the Reggae Boyz to outscore opponents as Lowe keeps being stopped by three or four defenders or shooting into the guts of the keeper. Ofcourse Lowe will score every now and again. He is the target man and he is taking all the shots...because whenever he gets the ball his head goes down....and that's it...ball lost...a mighty kick into the guts of the keeper...or he is stopped...or now and again he scores.
A sure receipe for disaster! He is denying himself and his teammates more shots at goal! ...and more goals scored...and the Reggae Boyz more wins!
Turn his thinking around and we'll definately be there!
