"the best of the best"

FIFA World Cup™ Dream Team Contest
Watch Video Clips

It is often said that the best problem for a coach to have is too many quality players to choose from. With a full squad, how does he choose who to play, who to have on the bench and who to leave out? This will be the dilemma facing you, the Internet coach, when you pick the World Cup Dream Team.

Forget the choices of the 'experts', FIFA World Cup™ Dream team is where YOU can make your voice heard. Using rare and previously unseen vintage footage from the historic FIFA TV and Film archives, the Fans of the World have the chance to cast their votes for the FIFA World Cup™ Dream Team position by position.

FIFA have selected a list of more than 100 players who have stamped their mark of quality on past FIFA World Cups. Your task will be to choose a starting XI from within this enormous squad, packed with superstars from the previous FIFA World Cups.

Each week a new position needs to be filled in the FIFA World Cup Dream Team, and the choice is yours - do you pick Lothar Matthäus as the midfield dynamo of the 80s or the solid sweeper of the 90s? Or maybe there will be no room for him - after all, with Paolo Maldini, Franz Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore and Santos at the back, even the likes of Andreas Brehme, Lilian Thuram, Ruud Krol and Franco Baresi might be disappointed.

Choosing the midfield will be no simple task either. Platini or Zidane, or both? Could old rivals Wolfgang Overath and Bobby Charlton play alongside each other, and do you have enough room to include both Johan Cruyff and Diego Maradona? Up front - Pele and Rummenigge? Eusebio and Hurst? Müller and Kempes? Rossi and Stoichkov?

To really spice things up, some absolutely amazing prizes will be up for grabs for all FIFA World Cup™ Dream Team coaches - who knows, you could even find yourself watching a match at 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™... keep tuned in to FIFAWorldcup.com for details.

Oh, and by the way, you'd better start preparing your best excuses - after all, you might soon be having to explain to Hristo Stoitchkov why he's only on the bench...
