It was reported recently in the Jamaica Observer, that the Manning Cup game between Tivoli and Charlie Smith, two of the top football high schools in Kingston and Jamaica, will be played at Up Park Camp. Futhermore, no spectators will be allowed at this game.
What is the big deal you may ask. Well, for those who may not know. Up Park Camp is famous in Jamaica not for hosting football matches, but for--and putting in bluntly--it is what Fort Meade is to America...an army compound. Meaning, it is off limits to civilians. Now that is were a high school football match will have to take place, and without spectators at that. What have we come to?
Though we have been, it is now official that we have decended to drastic levels when a simple high school game as to be moved to such a setting...Up Park Camp for fear of spectator violence...
Also, it was reported that Arnett Gardens and Tivoli Gardens, who both compete in the NPL, will not be playing each other on a home and away basis. The reason cited was the ongoing violence between both communities, which as resulted in the loss of many lives. Expect this one to be played at Up Park Camp also.
The question now is: Will spectators be allowed to attend and view the games that will be played between TG & AG?
Also, if they are allowed, and God forbids, but a fight breaks out between both. Will both communities leave the fight at the game venue, or will it escalate into an all out war, engulfing not only those two (TG & AG) but also neighbouring communities and corrupted politicians.
Barring spectators will mean a loss of precious revenue for both. But it is better to lose revenue than lives. However, we cannot continue like this. Sports was meant to bring people together. Lets hope that it can bring two communities, that have long been at war with each other together in an effort to stop the madness.

Sad it is!
Charmin: You may not have known this but in the '80s KSAFA Major Laegue matches had to be played 'a camp' because of the self same spectator violence.
Sad, then... Sad, now!
