Hello All; Some good news...UJAA has agreed to provide some emergency financial support to this cause. We have received several questions regarding the individuals who would like to make contributions to assist the teachers and defray some of the expenses which has occurred and is being anticipated. As a 501c(3), not-for profit organization, UJAA has agreed to be the conduit for the processing and disbursement of any contributions which is received. Your contribution therefore is 100% tax deductible. Please make your checks or money orders payable to UJAA (USA), Inc (Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA), Inc). Please don't send cash. Along with your advice letter, in the memo line of the check, note the "Jamaica Teachers Assistance Fund". There is no maximum or minimum amount to your contribution...therefore any amount will be greatly appreciated. It is always better to give than to receive. I heard that saying somewhere. Thanks for those who have already helped with the housing situation. Keep hope alive. We will do the evaluation and post mortem on this afterwards and develop an action plan to avoid these types of problems in the future. We will keep you in the loop in all aspects of this endeavor. Peace Anton
