  • Jamaica: It's complicated COVID 19

1st our economy is tourist dependent,COVID its a pandemic, meaning its world wide. It makes no sense to ban tourist from one destination and not the other. Tourist will fly in and the population will be infected. 2nd tourism means economics and if that collapses so does our economy. 3rd our testing isnt pro active in the sense that we can afford wholesale swab testing, again thats economics,Jamaica cannot afford it,like cities in China , or counties in the USA. They have drive throughs and testing centers.

Some good news, the virus doesnt survive in the heat for long and I am reading that the BCG vaccine which we all recieved as children builds up immunity to the virus. I agree that it makes no sense in locking down tourism because I believe Jamaicas risk is minimal because of the aforementioned, besides we are in a recession already. The measure implemented so far should be good enough ( Test symptomatic patients - trace- Quarantine) . Also the rest of the world will step up with their testing and treatment measures to nullify any threat of the virus flooding our tourist market, and our market is primarily those that have begun rigours testing, quarantine and treatment.

Last but not least , not many tourist are coming in anyway because of the lockdown in Europe and North America,so we should be safe. The same applies to the rest of the carribbean.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.
