  • What is the significance?

England is the only team in the World Cup whose entire player contingent play in their domestic league. There are zero player playing outside England. I think Russia only has 2 players from outside their home league. Not sure about the minnows like Saudi Arabia and Iran, but I doubt they are all from their home league. Does that matter now that England is in the semis?

Better yet ,England is the only nation in the WC that he won every Fifa tournament from youth to U 20s in the past 2 years.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Because it wasn't that unusual in past world cups. Italy won in 2006 with their entire contingent playing only in Italy, I think the same with Spain in 2010. Germany I think had only 2 of their players in 2014 playing outside the Bundesliga. So the point is that it *could* be significant considering historical precedence...or not.

This is England ( consistent flops) ! And in the past,it was not unusual for the entire contingent to play in the same league🙄

There is no real need for England player to play outside the EPL.

Gareth Southgate should be heartily commended. He has taken a squad of ordinary players, with only one world class striker, and molded them into a hard working world beating team. He’s done a Sir Alex Ferguson with this team. He should be crowned the coach of the tournament. The runner-up coach is Roberto Martinez. He gave a masterclass in tactics versus Brazil.
Hey .. look at the bright side .... at least you're not a Liverpool fan! - Lazie 2/24/10 Paul Marin -19 is one thing, 20 is a whole other matter. It gets even worse if they win the UCL. *groan*. 05/18/2011.MU fans naah cough, but all a unuh a vomit?-Lazie 1/11/2015

They have learned from other countries that passing is the key. I sometinnes smile when i see them passing the ball from the back........

Oh, and most important.....englan has much to thank Black players .

Regarding Southgate, I fully agreed. He made some big decisions. Dropping Smalling, a move I didn't agree with. Dropping Rooney for games that led to his retirement from int'l football, completely ignoring Ross Bartley, dropping Hart ( a surprise to me) and benching Cahill.

How lucky are the English that Allardyce had to step aside?

XACTLY , learned from other countries via the coaches in the new paradigm, the top 6 are forgein coaches who have won trophies on the continent and have imparted on the english how to play football, both players and coaches !Of special mention is that the others that make up the forgein contingent of coaches have won trophys although they are with midtable clubs e.g RAFA.

The days of being prejudiced and biased in selecting the team has passed look at their youth teams that won every FIFA tournament, you could say its BLACK !

To sum it up,better coaches = better players ! Jamaica can learn something !

You're spot on with that statement. Big Sam would've brought the same old, same old with the name-brand players to the team. He would've probably recalled tired legs Rooney to captain the team and dragged John Terry out of retirement.
