    THE JONATHAN HIBBERT MEMORIAL CUP

    The Jonathan Hibbert Foundation was established in January 2006, in memory of Jonathan Hibbert, a student and member of the Munro College Dacosta Cup team who passed away tragically in 2002.
    The main aim of the Foundation is to secure scholarships for student-athletes to universities abroad.
    This Saturday, 9th January 2010 Munro College, St. Elizabeth will stage the Annual Jonathan Hibbert Memorial Cup, commencing at 9 a.m. at the Munro College football complex.
    Now entering its fifth year, the soccer tournament facilitates scholarship opportunities to young people aged 17-23 in Jamaica. Since inception, 49 students have obtained scholarships through the Foundation; 45 in soccer and 4 in basketball.
    Present at this year’s tournament will be coaches from several U.S. Universities including Head Women's Soccer Coach from William Carey University who were the 2007 & 2008 GCAC Champions, National Tournament Elite 8. There will also be representative from:
    University of Tampa
    University of Maine at Fort Kent
    East Stroudsburg University
    University of West Virginia
    Salem International University
    Lindsay Wilson College
    Ryder University
    Bryant University

    Some 100% scholarships are available for those who choose to study Mathematics and Science. There are also several women’s soccer scholarships on offer.
    Prospective scholarship awardees should bring along high school transcripts, and S.A.T. results (if available), one passport size photograph and a $100 administration fee.
    Refreshments will be provided.
    Past recipients doing well:
    Kevin Holmes: from St. Elizabeth graduated from East Stroudsburg University this year and has gone on to his master’s program in athletic coaching Springfield College.
    Andre Anderson: received scholarship to study and play soccer at the university of Maine at Fort Kent in 2007. Rookie of the year in the sunrise conference in 2007 and led the nation in scoring, 3 time sunrise conference offensive player of the year and all conference team, NAIA honorable mention in 2007 and also region X (10) Player of the year in 2007, NAIA second team All American in 2008 and also male athlete of the year award at the university, 2009 champion of character award and on the honor roll every semester since enrolling.

    Dwayne Smith: Received scholarship in 2006.Rookie of the year in 2006, first team all conference in 2007, NAIA All-American honorable mention in 2007.

    Barrington Blake: Received scholarship in 2007. Sunrise conference first team 2007-2009, 2009 sunrise conference defensive player of the year. Third team All American 2009.

    Giovanni Sinclair: Received scholarship in 2007. NAIA All-American honorable mention in 2007 and 2008, sunrise conference defensive player of the year in 2007

    Jermaine West: Received scholarship in 2008. Rookie of the year in 2008, sunrise conference all conference team in 2009

    Oniqueky Samuels: Received scholarship in 2007. Sunrise Conference 1st team honor, honorable mention All-American, and honor student at UMFK.

    Damion Stone: Received scholarship in 2007. NAIA All-American honorable mention in 2008, sunrise conference first team and defensive player of the year in 2008.honor roll student at UMFK

    Roshane Ellison: Three time all conference, two time all regional, regional player of the year 2008 and All American second team 2008

    Toric Robinson: Four time all conference; three time all regional, honorable mention All American, Scholar athlete.

    Shane Mcfarlene: Two time all conference and all regional.
