  • Mobay's Powell to challenge Burrell for JFF presidency

His challenge comes at a time when world football is facing a raft of changes in the aftermath of the bribery scandal that has hit the sport's governing body, FIFA, and which has resulted in several arrests of top officials, including CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb, and, more recently, the suspension of its president, Joseph 'Sepp' Blatter, among other leading players in the game.

Powell also blasted what he said was a lack of development in the local game which has led the JFF to go overseas to scout for players for national teams merely participating in the FIFA competition and not being real contenders.

if his resignation from the board of MBUFC was in contemplation of this ... I am encouraged BUT there may still be the issue of bias ... did someone say Horace reid

          I dunno.

It just seems like the right thing to do. If FIFA is cleaning house seems like it's affiliates should do likewise, especially those who have had some close association with the top brass and resultant bruising in the past.

Ok.... The words sound promising . But is this guy a serious reformer...or just another yapper full of sound & fury...but signifying nothing???
If he's genuine mi wudda sen im ah bills yes

            But this gives one pause:
The MoBay businessman claims he had discussions with Burrell regarding his proposed challenge, but he thought the next voting congress would have been in three years' time, in 2018.
He said it was only recently that he realised the voting congress would be this year, so he fast-forwarded his decision.
            But ah wha dis Faada??????

See no reason why a non-JFF person should have election timetables on his mind at all times.

So, the Captain has been there since 1994, twenty one long years (never mind the sabotaged Boxhill interruption) and he has not put up "fast-forward development of a football industry" yet. When do we think that's going to happen? What did TK say about past behaviour?

And this time the Captain will not be able to call on the FIFA president a day before the election to break ground and make himself look connected.

Yeah, why speak to Burrell about it?

Burrell may have advised him that the next election was 2018 :-)

                            Advice taken!

I think Burrell's hands are too busy trying to hold onto power to be looking to push me into any sea!
