  • Ska Lives or This is Ska

Mexico has deep appreciation for original ska sounds, and has received OG Jamaican artists such as Keith and Tex, Derrick Morgan and vocal group The Clarendonians — who, in turn, draw crowds from Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica. "It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

I've been listening to Byron Lee music recently.

I have concluded that Byron Lee is/was the best musician Jamaican has ever seen.

His body of work including ska....is unsurpassed.

Have you ever heard of a group called the SKATALITES. Probably one of the world's greatest bands ever.

One of the Dragonaire's said they discovered it on a trip downtown..lol, anyway seriously I watched CVM last night and they had this lady who claims she is a professor teaching Jazz at some Jamaican university, the lady was embarrasing, she insisted Jazz is Jamaican and we must claim it based on the fact that alot of jamaican musicians played Jazz when it first started out and other musician had jamaican parentage, she went onto to support it by listing all the famous musicians from Alpha, the host asked so how would you qualify Jamaican Jazz ,her reference to say its mixed with mento.

You could sense the classism in this ladys tone, she could not link SKA anywhere in her conversation , in fact SKA did not even come up .The lady went onto say Jazz is the reason instruements are still being played in Jamaica.

              Madness !

Incidentally Alpha won this competition twice. The only school to do so.
