THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

If I could look at it through our cultural eyes,it's not that student athletes has failed the schools but the school educational system has failed them by not instituting an educational net to bring them up the ladder,in other words nuttin nuh wrang if a school buys, something wrang if Dem nuh educate di youths.

      Oral Point:A bit off !

My opinion is that this entire attitude of prejudice against the student-athletes is stemming from an innate jealousy of the status enjoyed by these talented young individuals, a prejudice that has journeyed across many generations. It's a covert and misguided attempt at keeping the proverbial playing field level and at cutting these so-called 'prima donnas' down to size, but in the quest to attain the unattainable, what is actually being meted out to these young Jamaicans is systematic prejudice and injustice.

The jealousy isnt innate, its born out of the fact that certain BIG schools benefit from these youths success in competitions,if they could level the field where all schools could buy on the premise that the optimum education is given, the jealousy would taper down.

Granted not every school is as rich as the other (old boys ) association. On the other hand the BIG Schools cant accomodate all the talent.

        This is the real crux....

"The most disturbing reality that is being ignored is that the shortcomings on the education system, and by extension the nation, is not indexed by the academic struggles of the relatively few student-athletes, but more so by the 25 to 35 per cent of 11th-graders who continue to pass through high school after five years without obtaining a single pass in a single subject. These are 16-, 17-, and 18-year olds who continue to be mere time wasters, who never kicked a ball or ran a race, and yet, achieved nothing academically."
Hey .. look at the bright side .... at least you're not a Liverpool fan! - Lazie 2/24/10 Paul Marin -19 is one thing, 20 is a whole other matter. It gets even worse if they win the UCL. *groan*. 05/18/2011.MU fans naah cough, but all a unuh a vomit?-Lazie 1/11/2015

Exactly and to focus on "the buying" as the problem is hypocritical,Orals statement that its innate based on class is made redundant by that statement because that 25 to 35 % are not exclusively middle class or upper middle class.Again I bet the lower class make up the majority of that number.
