Athletes in good nick at JC Track & Field meet

Isheka Binns of The University of the West Indies makes a big heave during the women’s shot put open at the JC/Purewater/R Danny Williams Track and Field Development meet at Jamaica College yesterday.

It may be too early to say that the gauntlet has been thrown down by a number of athletes, who announced themselves in no mean order with some creditable performances at the season-opening Jamaica College/Purewater/R Danny Williams Track and Field Development meet yesterday.

The athletes, a number of whom are gearing up to defend their respective titles at the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Championships in March, signalled good early-season form at the 24th staging of the meet in which Ruel James was honoured for his significant contribution as a coach to the Old Hope Road-based school and the country.

Four records were broken up to press time, two of which were registered by former Manchester High standout thrower Isheka Binns.
