  • Lazie were you able to hear the conversation

between Karl Samuda and the Guyanese Agricultural Minister on RJR the other evening, Thursday evening I think?

It had to do with rice export to Jamaica and the myth the government was trying to sell us as to why there was a shortage of rice on the market.

Samuda said that a storm or hurricane or flood had damaged the Guyanese crop and that was why we had no rice from them but the Guyanese man said no such thing at all, they had their regular crop and as a matter of fact they had been able to send surplus to Jamaica.

Guyana get addition quota in Europe and that is where the Guyanese rice went. More money for them. The importers are saying there is a shortage so why don't Guyana export more and make more money?

Didn't hear it, but I've seen reports about it.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
