Legal pressure appears to be piling on two victorious Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidates who have been accused of holding dual citizenship.
In addition to the Constitutional Motion filed against Daryl Vaz, lawyers for People's National Party (PNP) candidate in Western Portland, Abe Dabdoub, have filed an election petition in the Supreme Court.
The petition was filed on Monday.
Mr. Dabdoub is claiming that Mr. Vaz holds a US passport and should therefore be disqualified from being elected Member of Parliament.
Both matters go to trial on October 16.
In the meantime, lawyers for former Member of Parliament Manley Bowen filed an election petition in his challenge against North East St. Ann MP Shahine Robinson in the dual citizenship saga.
The matter involving Ms Robinson was scheduled for Monday this week before the Chief Justice Zailia McCalla.
However, when the matter was mentioned the Chief Justice was informed that an election petition was also filed.
She then instructed that the matters be joined.
No date has been set for the hearing.
Mr. Bowen took out his challenge against Ms Robinson as a constituent concerned about her holding dual citizenship.
Ms Robinson defeated the PNP's Oswest Senior-Smith in the September 3 election.
