Beenie Man in a lot of trouble for cemetery video
Monday, 01 October 2007
Popular dancehall entertainer Moses "Beenie Man" Davis and members of his video production team have found themselves in trouble with the operators of the St. Andrew Parish Church cemetery.
Lawyers representing the Church have accused Beenie Man and the production team of filming a music video in the cemetery without the permission of the church.
The defendants in the matter are Beenie Man, Michael Tingling and Danielle Desulme.
Attorneys representing the church went to court last week seeking an injunction banning the airing of the video.
The injunction was granted by Mr. Justice Bryan Sykes.
It bars the defendants from publishing, broadcasting or releasing for publication or broadcast in any audiovisual media the music video films or other visual images recorded by Beenie Man's production team.
The defendants are also barred from providing any copy of any video tapes films or other visual images or any part thereof showing aspects of the Church yard and cemetery for a period of 28 days.
Justice Sykes also ordered that the defendants turn over to the Court all recorded copies of the video tape or tapes of films.
Media houses and other broadcasting entities have also been prohibited from broadcasting the video.
The matter is scheduled to be heard in the Supreme Court on October 11."Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
