Education Minister appoints two school administrators as advisors
Two school administrators are to take up the post of Senior Advisors to Minister of Education Andrew Holness.
Former Jamaica Teachers Association President and Principal of Jamaica College, Ruel Reid and Principal of Spaulding High, Alphansus Davis will take up their appointments next week.
Mr. Davis is also President of the Association of Principals and Vice Principals.
Our news centre has been informed that despite his appointment to the Education Ministry, Mr. Reid will remain as Principal of JC.
Mr. Davis will be on two years secondment from Spaulding High.
The appointments are expected to be announced by Mr. Holness on Tuesday.
Their duties will include advising the Minister on teacher related issues and policies as well as liaising with the education sector.
They are also expected to play a critical role in the Transformation of Education Initiative.
Earlier this week the Education Minister said although Prime Minister Bruce Golding did not name a Junior Education Minister he will have enough persons assisting him so that the workload will be well managed.
