Don't mistake 'respect' for 'stiff-upper lip'. I just don't think there's any reason for the Observer to continue in this vein. They have done their dirty work and most likely gotten rewarded already. Why imprint this image in the minds of our young children? It's all about us - and how we perceive ourselves - its about self-respect, supporting our women and taking pride in our people.
I am positive the 'message' being portrayed is out of context.

Don't try to use humour as a guise for your intemperance.

Still think it is wrong...but, I have been obviously been outvoted as many on the forum seem to support that type of behaviour.

Some battles you must know when to give up - I gave up, here.

But think any thing yuh like.
Oh ... well in that case my apologies. Thought you were saying the cartoon was funny ...

Accepted. I could have made myself clear. Just thought it interesting that you noticed the flip-flops, which was what we were discussing yessiday.

When a cartoon was done of a retired Seaga in his under pants, where was the out cry of disrespect to Jamaican men? Mr. Miller is in his draws too .... where is yuh out cry about that?

Lets talk about respect. Portia didn't portray herself in a respectable manner Sunday night .... hence this. If unuh suh concerned about our young children, where is the criticism of Portia? Art imitating life bredren.

Intempewha? Maybe you need to look at the lighter side of life every so often. Portia set herself up for the fall with her "street" behaviour. When dem have Eddie dress up in cargo chain, high top sneakers and dark glasses mi neva hear yuh a run off yuh mouth bout disrespect to Jamaican men. Get over it.

Forget about Seaga. That's history. You have missed the point again. It's not just about the cartoon..it's also about Bricktop came on making the comments...who says it's not a top and shorts. Its was always about DISRESPECT!
What was wrong with what Portia did on Sunday night? I saw a clip but not all.

Eddie is NOT the issue here! I can't discuss your baggage. I have never seen Portia in no what you call "street" behaviour. What exactly is that?
Let me ask you this - what would you get upset about - someone disrespecting your father or tell you about yu mother?

Bricktop's subject could be seen as a headline grabber. How is it disrespectful?

Regarding Sunday night .... have you ever heard the saying, is not what yuh say, is how yuh say it? Well she came across in a manner of "If a war unuh want a war unuh ago get!" The sad thing her speech had some valid points, but HER GHETTO BEHAVIOUR (my back broad) overshadowed her message.

Why is Eddie not the issue? Was he not the Prime Minister and leader of the opposition? Was Portia not the Prime Minister and currently leader of the opposition? Are you saying that a woman is equally competent to head a political party but should not be scrutinised as equally as her male counterparts? If you saw somebody snapping their fingers, rolling their neck and screaming "mi nuh fraid a nuh bway, nuh gyal, nuh whe, nuh time" how would you classify that behaviour?
