  • Bruce Golding & Portia Simpson-Miller

One thing is clear both have entered as PMs with equal political capital. People had great expectations of radical positive changes under Mrs. Simpson-Miller's rule. So it is with Mr. Golding. It is obvious to me that the people of Jamaica do not want 'politics as usual'.

Whatever the reason, former Prime Minister Portia and the PNP did not do enough to capitalise on their 'political capital' to an extent where Mrs. Simpson-Miller and her governement could convince a majority to give her her own mandate.

Mr. Golding has his mandate. He is guaranteed 5 years. He shall have, baring unforseen events, 3 and 1/2 half years more than Mrs. Simpson-Miller had to get things right.

...and get it right he must, if he hopes to rem,ain in office as PM, as our people are in an impatient mood for not just small encremental positive change...but, wholesale postive changes!
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
