    Jamaicans giving up !

    Apart from hardcore supporters of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) who defended to the death their party and its capacity to lead, most people were totally fed up with the direction in which the country is going..

    "It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

    in my recent column, “Contingent Democracy”, published exactly one month ago (February 3) I stated “it would be political suicide for a prime minister to call any election, local government or general, in the current Jamaican political and economic environment”. My reason for saying that was “the reputation of the government has been sullied by its handling, or mishandling, of information in its possession about challenges facing a private firm with whom billions of private investment dollars has been lodged by unsuspecting Jamaicans”.

      To sum up the town next to hell, Jamaica !

      1. The Politicians/party delegate a candidate for M.P
      2. The People vote on it
      3. The M.P solicits contracts that are geared to friends or families, where the M.P in some cases are part of the board.
      4. The Integrity commision against corruption investigates
      5. The integrity committe gets gagged
      6. One arm of the committe recommends prosecution , the other declines
      7. Declination is supported by constitutional law that having a nepotistic, cronotistic, conflicted relationship isnt a crime,although pungent .

      Some see nothing wrong with this, some call it the price of progress. Fun fact , the constitution intentionally stated the party must delegate the M.P ( Democratic dictatorship), and the only reason that I can come up with for that arrangement is our founding fathers were scared of illeterate radicals gaining power. Back then you had the UNIA and the rastafarian movements promoting consciousness. Now we have literate radicals promoting tribal politics, classism or elitism oiled in corruption.
