  • 300 young people to benefit from coding training

A total of 300 young people are being targeted for training in coding under the Technology Advancement Programme (TAP) III.

Applications are now open for the one-year training initiative, which is being implemented by the Universal Service Fund (USF) in collaboration with the Amber Group and HEART/NSTA Trust.

The University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica, through its Faculty of Technology and Computing, will also be collaborating on the initiative, providing facilities to accommodate the participants at campuses across the island.

Hi Jangle you remember me telling them that HEART was the best to partner with in this kind of venture? Poor idiot me.

"He noted that in partnership with the Amber Group and the Heart/NSTA Trust, the USF has committed to covering the costs and fees associated with some training modules, which will be delivered in theoretical and practical format, as well as provide participants with a weekly stipend for lunch and other travel-related expenses."

Deadline to register for Chronixx-founded JamCoders Camp is today

With the tremendous success of its inaugural staging, the JamCoders Camp will return to The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona in July. The programme which was founded by Jamar ‘Chronixx’ McNaughton, originally announced a January 25 deadline to register on its Website, but extended it to February 28 and again to today, March 6.

Organised in collaboration with the UWI Department of Computing, JamCoders is modelled on AddisCoder, a programme that Professor Jelani Nelson founded in Ethiopia. Last year, the camp saw 50 students from high schools across 12 parishes graduating following an intensive, four-week algorithm coding lectures and lab sessions.
