THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Charging $$$ doesnt mean it brings value to the entity at hand, in this - our culture, all it means is that some see value it. And that is the bigger question who is the " some" of that niche and if we explore the socioeconomics of that niche , you find young , uneducated, poor youth, who are grasping at straws , a quick fix for a way out. The irony I see in these clowns is they are mimicking rap videos , guns, violence, flashy cars and big house. Nothing conscious and progressive. They have no clue that black america has moved passed that and see it for what it is , a selling of sterotypes to white america to make a buck. Black american youth are more conscious and progressive than in the 80 or 90s, these stereotypes are insulting to the majority of them, they dont conflate enjoying music to living the music. These clowns in JA , cant do that , the poverty and desperation is real , they believe the two ( enjoying and living the music is real). The quality of music or most of it will be poor. Their market will be local or in the british speaking carribbean , but rarely will any of them perform on a stage for an hour with a catalog of songs by themselves, when they come its 3 - 4 of them at a time with 35 - 45 min sets at most, worst case they have to book veterans to sell it out.

The music is dead, whats being sold is entertainment, american style. They are fake , cant DJ on a sound system, cant DJ live on their rap riddims, its all ray, ray , hype and two forwards.

As much as I hate today's Trap/Crap Dancehall, every criticism now, is the exact criticism dancehall music of our era got back in the 80's and 90's. It is the same criticism Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae got throughout each generation. If this new genre continues to grow and get more popular, then these 20 and 30 year olds are going be saying these were the good old days of music.

I agree with you, but what I am saying is I am surprised that they are generating and audience. Because in a capitalist society if no one is paying for it it will die.

Mi done said it long time, and I know Music influence people. It does great things for me so when you show the youths these things, what do you expect.

Make good music and you will live. Sly and Gitsie created a drum pattern and a guitar track (No bass) "Bam Bam" and it went worldwide and started the whole Reggaton thing using his drum pattern. When are we going to learn?

        • Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

OJ why would you doubt bad products have a market , the Chinese are famous for selling cheap knock off brand-name goods , rap lost its soul decades ago why should dancehall not follow that lead , the question is if it's adding value to the authentic product on the market , can it sustain itself or be of value as the authentic thing .

I don't believe this trap has that potential to replace dancehall , right now the masses are hungry for a young vybz , shabbaa ,ninja type to buss with dancehall riddims , I think people are so beaten down they would accept the slackness and gun riddims with the new messiah

Trap has a niche market , less than authentic dancehall market , its lost in America , Been to a couple BBQ this summer , black American DJs don't play it. It's a hard sell in clubs , One clown did it at Grace Jerk fest in Queens , his set was short and basically of comedic value , like he had to resort to nursery rhymes tand hype men/ dancers to get the people involved .

Marcia Griffiths carried the show. Trap sells in the Caribbean, it has value their. One hit wonders and YouTube sensations will be the norm for awhile . These artist are younger, desperate and dumber like the producers, crumb$ will do them well.

Jangle the difference is those genres built on each other and took the music and culture to another level. Trap isn't building on dancehall, it's in total war against dancehall, reggae, lovers rick, ska and mento.

There is a riddim that you can trace through all those genres, besides the Jamaican accent , this trap genre would be forgein.
