THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

It is interesting how the media has missed the real story. Since Drake came out and tweeted everyone is focussed on this but missed the real story that we are now seeing.

Many of the first generation jamaican business people are at the stage now where Covid fatigue and the fact they are ageing do not want to continue their businesses. In some cases the kids do not want to run the business and they have not transformed the business in a corporate entity from a mom and pop organization to a structure which is less labour intensive for them. So at some point they close. In this specific area where this shop is located it is very sentimental. it was known as Little Jamaica, that is where the barber, the tailor, the record shops, the hairdresser was for our community. For those of you from NY think of White Plains Rd where Moodies is except all Jamaican businesses on both side of the street for a few blocks. This area is now getting gentrified as they say because of new transit line extension condominiums ect .

The typically issue is although we owned the businesses we did not owned the buildings and so now they are selling to big development with different plans. It is a interesting case study but I think you may see this in NY and London Brixton to be specific. We need to own real estate.

The media has jumped on Drake story but they have not discussed the gentrification of these neighborhoods

As it should be , you don't find 2nd generation Chinese Americans or Asians running Chinese or Korean takeout shops.

Those are 1st generation immigrant adventures , they sell onto other 1st generation immigrants. What Jamaican 1st generation have done is introduce the cuisine to a wider market or international market with respect to their immigration adventures. Jerk and Patty is known as Jamaican cuisines, it's up to Jamaican multinationals to make a killing out of it and make in roads into the foreign culture to the point where it's not foreign but part of the fabric of that country. E.g NY , every( bodega ) Spanish shop sells a patty. Every supermarket sells a patty. You find Jamaican patties being sold at Mega Mart stores like Costco, Walmart etc. Still you have Jamaican shops , from pastries to patty in NY.

If you want that tradition to continue of mom and pop Jamaican restaurants, lobby your government to increase Jamaican migration.

I think you were on the right track until the part about mom and pop, that is exactly what I don't want . I want us to take the mom and pop to a more corporate structure which allows for freedom and expansion. I know quite a few people as as they get older they cant do the 18 hour days anymore and so they sell the business.

So you got lost when I said it's up to Jamaican multinationals to take it further, being that the cuisine is international.

How much more corporate can you get when your cuisine is being sold in Walmart

OJ!!!.......I think the best example of what you are alluding to is Golden Krust. Started out as a "mom & pop" operation in the Bronx, and now they have locations all over the U.S. (I think there's also restaurant/franchise in Toronto), and their products are in major supermarket chains. I heard they even partnered with Beyond Meat, for a line of patties.
