No motive as yet for Montego Bay Prep murder Wednesday, 12 September 2007 Police in St. James are Wednesday afternoon no closer to a motive for Wednesday morning's brutal murder of 45-year-old Electrical Engineer Leo Harris at the Montego Bay Preparatory School.
Mr. Harris of Moy Hall in St. James was shot in the head by gunmen in front of terrified teachers and students while dropping his child off at the school.
The incident resulted in an abrupt end to the school day.
It was not a typical school day for students of Montego Bay Prep Wednesday as many witnessed the parent of a schoolmate being murdered Wednesday morning.
It was a traumatized body of students and teachers many of whom were just arriving, who rushed for safety as gunshots rang out in the usually quiet area Wednesday morning.
The police say about 8:05, Mr. Harris pulled up at the school's car park and had just dropped off his child, when two men walked up and opened fire hitting him in the head several times.
Other parents and students watched in shock.
The men then went to a Toyota Corolla motorcar and sped from the scene, but not before a licensed firearm holder fired several shots at them but to no avail.
Chaos then erupted, as parents who had already dropped off their children rushed back to get them.
Assistant force police chaplain Superintendent Courtney Walters tried to offer comfort to the parents and students.
In the meantime, the police say no motive has yet been established for the killing.
The police however said Mr. Harris was implicated in a double murder about two years ago, involving a woman and her fianceƩ, a matter which was still before the courts.
