Yesterday, Dwight Nelson, the JLP spokesman was being interviewed on Beyond the headlines by Dionne Jackson Miller and Jodie Ann Brown (?) re the payment of tuition to the schools and refunds to parents who have already spoken. As he explained the JLP's position and the difficulties they were encountering, I said to a friend of mine listening in that he is sounding no different than the arrogant PNP "big wigs" like Pickersgill and Nicholson. Just then, as if she heard me, Dionne had to shut him up and say pretty much the same thing I said seconds ago, about him sounding just like the PNP people who displayed such crass arrogance especially in the last 2 or 3 years. Indeed, many persons voted against the PNP just to bring some of these people back down to earth.
Well, Dwight quickly collected himself and in a most penitent and humble manner continued to explain himself and the position of his party, as he begged the public's understanding.
Not even 8 days have passed since the general election and we have this sort of arrogance. I can't imagine 18 years!
Perhaps he has been spoilt by the PNP's display over the years and he was mistakenly of the idea that this is how politicians should behave. The idea that politicians are our servants apparently does not apply in Jamaica. Time for someone to set the proper tone and remind everyone who is the servant here. Bruce Golding should take the lead.
