  • If this Emmanuel breddah yah is proud

and satisfied with the achievements of the last 18 years, it means his ambition level is low.

I really refuse to continue with this nonsensical discourse, because I am feeling intellectually insulted.

Making long posts saying nothing essentially may be fun to him, but it is offensive to me. Maybe he is getting paid for this or benefitting financially in some way. I have no such interest in this matter and only want decent progress for Jamaica and I know when I am being sold a bag of goods.

Jamaica is gonna do what it feels correct for it to do today and I am hoping that whatever way it goes Jamaica will benefit. I am just tired of us being the laughing stock of the region. We are far better than that.

See, I actually dont care WHO is in power, as long as they perform.

My navel-string is not tied to either. I am not embarrassed by Portia as is Sickko, many other Comrades and some labourites. I have no inordinate fear of Bruce like many Comrades, hell, right now he seems closer to Daddy Manley than Michael did! Portia is more of a cross between Michael and Busta, with Seaga backing her.

What I cant abide is non-performance coupled with excuses, no matter how slick.

Bruce's speech last night was brilliant! If he continues in this vein, Jamaica will be the better for it. He was this close from suggesting a coalition government.

On the other hand, they have already begun to pull away from the "easy as 1-2-3" attitude they had presented to the nation. That is to be expected and you will hear more of that as the days go by. But Jamaicans need to realise that it was never going to be easy for any party, and if we don't get over our social hangups, then it won't get better any time soon.

And you don't have to take my uneducated word for it. Brilliant economists like Chung say the same thing. We need to start pulling together as a unified country if we have any hope of going forward and upward.

...as Portia's was ...err?...errr? ..."indelicate" (had to make this do). Not that she was on the wrong track, but there were certainly better ways to say what she did.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating!

It struck me that the JLP started its campaign at least 2 years before the election. I would not be surprised if the PNP takes a que from the JLP and starts their new campaign for power in 2012 even earlier.

The JLP certainly had a more prolonged campaign than we have ever seen before. Maybe we are moving towards the recent practise in the USA where plans and activities directly targetted to (re-)gaining power starts immediately after each election.

...perhaps, Bruce's speech immediately on gaining power, even as we would like some greater levels of co-operation from our elected representatives, was a pre-emptive strike aimed at among other things putting a crimp in any rapid PNP pre-2012 action/response towards (re-) gaining power? Perhaps, the speech is a double shot across the bow of the PNP - a deep seated wish, as we all have, for a working together towards improving our lot as fast as possible and his first step at re-starting the JLP's election 2012 campaign? Certainly his one action will dovetail into the other?

Are we already working for another election instead of trying to move the country forward? I couldn't care less if Bruce is pre-emptively striking. If he ends up being what Portia should have become, i.e., a prime minister who motivates and mobilises the Jamaican people towards unity, progress, production, wealth and peace, then so be it. I thought that was what solecistic Portia would have done, but she lost the plot. She need not have waited for her own mandate, and in any case, she was not smart enuff to realise that waiting to call the election was not a smart thing to do.

The fact is, like it or not, Jamaica is PNP country. If such a brilliant campaign by the JLP only resulted in a 2 seat advantage then they should be worried. So, if Bruce realises that and uses that fact to his advantage, and for the country's benefit, great! Think the USA situation when Clinton was accused of using republican ideas neutralising the strong republican base.
