Ronald Reagan, the racist & bigot:
1. Was opposed to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
2. Was opposed to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 - calling it "humiliating to the South".
3. Running for Governor (California), in 1966, one of his major campaign promises was to wipe the Fair Housing Act off the books - he said, "If an individual wants to discriminate against Negroes or others in selling or renting his house, he has a right to do so".
4. Supported Bob Jones University, an overtly racist institution. He fought for BJU to get federal funding despite the fact that they discriminate on the basis of race. In 1983 the Supreme Court decided against BJU getting federal funding, and in retaliation Reagan gutted the Civil Right Commission.
5. To fund the Contra war, Regan's covert operation flooded the inner cities with untold metric tons of cocaine which fed & accelerated the crack epidemic & the inner city drug wars.
6. Continued Nixon's War on Drugs with more aggressive policies, such as mandatory minimum for crack, which contributed to contributed to the notable racial disparities in the prison population.
7. During his time in office, HUD & Justice Department failed to sanction or prosecute banks, realtors and landlords, despite overwhelming evidence of blatant & pervasive racial discrimination.
