Despite a non-custodial sentence being passed on a man who slapped a Member of Parliament during a public meeting, he is still in custody for almost one month.

When THE STAR checked at the police station on August 2, an officer admitted that the 25-year-old man, who was said to be of an unsound mind, was still in their custody.
"Yes, Mr. Knight is still here as he is in need of attention," the police remarked.
Knight is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm for boxing Member of Parliament K.D. Knight while he was onstage in Bog Walk in late June.
He went to court on July 4, and was later sentenced by RM Nicole Simmonds after the MP begged for a non-custodial sentence and that he get treatment and secure a steady place of abode. The police, who were to check this out by July 26, had failed to give any account of this when enquiries were made.
