Very good story Sass, but is this the exception or the rule?

Unfortunately Sass doesn’t understand the difference between the two constructs. Consequently he does not know how to use them in presenting a position.

Understanding Macro data vs Micro data and how/when to use either is not a problem set that he has solved yet

Nope it is very common really. I have a lot of youths who have excel in this field who started out has moved up the ranks. There are opportunities. I know that there are some places that need work in terms of bias and victimization but there has been some real opportunities. I can tell you that everybody in my group who was trained for 6 months or year in hospitality training who is still in the is Managers or directors or in Jamaica or other places and the trainers are all senior managers. Others left the field and are doing good in whatever field they choose. This because hospitality provided a start many didn't have and if you apply yourself you can move up. Just a few of the people. Two are now instructors at Utech (they were trained chef) One became director of Landscaping at Halfmoon (trained in hotel maintenance and landscaping) and now running his business, One is worldwide reservation manager at a major franchise (Front office proceedure), zipping to different countries, another operations manager at a caribbean resort, another night auditing manager (accounting)at major hotel in Florida, and one is now the Director for HEART training program (a trained chef). I could go on but I guess you get the drift.

That is why training is key.

Johnny - it's you who don't get the drift.

Personal anecdotes do not suffice for systems analysis - yet you continue blindly with that rubbish approach

          Gwaaan Johnny!!!

No it is not personal. There is a lot of opportunities within tourism but only because you fail to see it or use the available data. You just one track. The fact is Hospitality graduates from Utech or UWI don't have to wait in line for a job.

Don't know why you continue yapping about the benefits of tourism when no one disputes the fact that many people benefit from that industry.

It appears that you still don't understand the essence of the argument I present.

The argument presented states that since we're in a Knowledge Age/Age of Automation & Robotics -- having a primarily low-skill industry like tourism as our "leading sector" is not likely to drive the TRANSFORMATION that JA requires to develop in the 21st century. Jamaica needs to develop its human capital to modern technological levels in order to have a chance at real progress

You and others can disagree - that's your prerogative. However at this point it's really asinine to misunderstand or misrepresent the argument after it's been explained so many times.

Yet you continue to bash tourism. I understand the fact that Jamaica needs to be in the modern technology game and that goes for more than just AI and Robotics. The fact is tourism can be a major earner if we do the right things and also take it serious.

To be constantly saying tourism consist of maid, bartenders and people selling themselves, and is the major reason for crime is totally false so your first argument is totally wrong, no matter how you shape it. Not forget your argument about "fat" tourist etc. but you still don't get it.

You don't have to knock tourism to promote STEM and AI. In my view we desperately need training in both, because it is very lacking. Until you change your basic thoughts you will alway pop up berating tourism and every few days.

Tourism is a primarily low skilled activity which while vital to Jamaica - cannot drive innovation nor lead the transformation Jamaica requires to progress in the 21st Century

If this means “bashing tourism” so be it.
