This appears to be a step in the right direction. More direct links with professional certifications. Some progressive thinking is taking hold I believe.

In what is being viewed as a far-reaching and even game-changing initiative, the selected students will be encouraged to pursue the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (#2580) alongside CAPE maths, physics and science. In an arrangement with the ministry, examination fees will be paid for students writing the City & Guilds engineering examinations alongside CAPE's associate degree in industrial technology

The movement towards a 21st century education system is growing. School hours are far too valuable merely to prep for outdated, static CXC or other standardized exams.

Education must move towards industry certification and dynamic STEM apps where kids learn by DOING....not swotting the irrelevant material present abundantly in standardized curricula
