    Obama expressed the same confidence in the people yet they voted in Donald Trump as President. The rust belt swing voters who sent Trump into office sent him there to "blow up the system" and he is doing it. Trump will continue to be controversial because that is why is was elected and why he will be re-elected. The only thing that can stop him from a re-election is impeachment and the republican party is not going to allow that.
    The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

      Trump will not be re- elected ,even without impeachment.He lost Florida ,Penn and the North-midwest with those racist comments.The north won the civil war and will win it again.His popularity is in the 30s,heading to the 20s.

      Just my opinion history will repeat itself,the constitution is stronger.

        Now explain why that all encompassing safety mechanism failed to prevent him from being elected in the first place?
        Regarding "..even the dumb and ignorant..",in one of Michael Moore's movied, someone defined a democracy as two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for lunch.

          Failed ? you missed the point,it was a success ! Yes the system worked,the dumb and ignorant won an election,the constitution remains intact.You need to seperate the win of an election from the supreme law of the land that governs us.

          The safety mechanism is freedom of expressions,checks and balances in the congress and senate to protect against an ignorant executive ,worse yet ignorant citizens,also the judiciary by way of the civil rights laws i quoted.

          America has won every major civil rights campaign post civil war,each enactment of a civil rights law is the affirmation of such.It doesnt not exclude people from being racist,it enforces penalties for such behavior.

          Trump is in for a hell of a penalty.The former CIA director and Generals have spoken !
