While they appear to be the best option we have when it comes to the macro-level projects like highways, ports, etc, its clear that they are not competing on a level playing field where the private sector contracts are concerned. Surely Mr Bunting was aware of this concern when he was in power though?
HL, even in little country towns like Little London the Chinese are expanding, at least partly because of the favorable concessions they receive for imports, etc

Corruption among political leaders is nothing new. I dates back hundreds of years.
Currently, the Israeli prime minister is under corruption investigation.
Small underdeveloped countries like Jamaica are and have been havens of corruption.
About 5 years ago , i saw a MASSIVE sign in chinese hung from a high rise building under construction in Montego Bay. Dont know what it said. But presonally i felt insulted.
I have learned long ago that `all of us have a price`.
The Jamaican leadership has been paid to the detriment of the people.

HL I was born in Sav. Didn't grow up there but it was my fathers hometown. He went to Mannings, taught there in the 60s and returned as principal for a few years in the early 90s before he passed.

years ago I said local contractors and small business should get a concession on these bids and people were so oppose to it. We can't compete as many of the projects are loans from Chinese banks or have some form of government concessions as land for road deal, low interest, tax break and down right corruption.
Bunting is a politician but he was big part of these deal, don't tell me everything change since last year.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

most of the US investment in public sector is through USAID, Exim bank and others. Chinese giving cheaper money and the US have been cutting aid since the end of the cold war to friendly countries. US is still doing some.
Chinese money is currently cheap and it is not totally dependent on IMF, world bank or in some case your ability to pay it back,- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth.
