on the subject of the youths. The government made has made a few good initiatives. Youths have to stay in school, or trade until they are 19 under the camp program. They have also used JEEP money to employ youths between 17 and 25 and also program where youths are trained with JFF. These are some good starts. No doubt the Dons and corrupted needs to get caught but it has to be a two way stream of also trying to cut the supply of youths who are just too willing to join the gangs.

I can hope that this make a difference and human rights are protected. We can't continue how we are going.

JDF members are being trained, along with officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, in rights of citizens, observance of human rights and use of force.

Isn't that part of basic training firthe JCF?

Lazie, are you in favour of this latest initiative, and if so, why?

Yes, I am in favor of the approach. Initially I was hesitant, but after hearing the bill being review by Kalilah Enriquez I realized that consideration for human rights were being considered as well as social intervention in these areas. Will it work .... I don't know ... will have to wait and see ... but with the rising murder rate something needs to be done.

This by itself alone will not work but if you have good social programs and programs to keep kids off the street, youth clubs etc. it might just get a very positive result.
