All it takes is Critical Thinking...

    It's physical violence

Beating is physical violence. There is just so much local and international research on the ineffectivenessof beating as punishment and the emotional and psychological damage to children who are beaten that the big problem I am now having in writing this article is to decide which studies to quote and stay within my word count. Here are a few of them:

The American Psychological Association (APA) in opposing the use of corporal punishment in public institutions and private spaces points out that 'corporal punishment intended to influence undesirable responses may create in the child the impression that he or she is an undesirable person; and an impression that lowers self-esteem and may have chronic consequences.

Parents that beat their children probably need some Anger Management treatment.

    ..and Maudib says -

"Parents that beat their children probably need some Anger Management treatment.
Sure Maudib is on the right track where some parents are concerned.

BTW - What steps do you take if nothing works after trying all other reasonable (note I am inferring that beating is reasonable) at home methods to have the child or children conform to reasonably expected norms?

Should the parent just leave the child to his/her own devices...or the children to set the boundaries on what may or may not be considered good behaviour? What of standards which the parents would like to be attained by the child/children?

...and, what effect would having unruly...indisciplined...child leaders unleashed in the home and outside of the home have on the society?

Somehow I think if after trying all the recommended courses of actions the intelligentsia lay out the child or the children still insist on not 'doing right' the parents should not 'run' the child or the children out of the home...but, then that is just me. I believe in never giving up...at least not when the young kids are in what I think is that impressionable formative age...an age when I think all well thinking parents know 'sending' ---- aiding development of the child...teaching anything other than 'good ways' is not an option...

...but, as I said, maybe it is just me?
