You are grossly incorrect. Many middle class people are seeing 1000% increases on their property taxes. I am one of them. Here is a part of the problem. There were very high millage rates on grossly undervalued properties. As the valuations are increased towards market values, the very high millage rates are exposed as being ridiculous. The real problem is that, unlike what is done by local and state govts in the US and other countries, property tax millage rates are not developed and targeted towards services. For example, my millage rate is broken down with a set millage going for schools, a set amount for public safety, a set amount for public safety, etc. So there is some real nexus between property taxes and services."Jah Jah see dem a come, but I & I a Conqueror!"Comment

what were you paying before & what are you paying now? i was paying $58k & will be paying $100k now...property was valued at $2.8 mil & has been revalued at $10 mil...those seeing 1000% increase are hotels & large landowners...

when the dollar devalues the economy slows down...so does the housing market...prices decline...they don't increase...devaluation of the dollar causes foreigners to buy property as their currency is now stronger...but crime & inflation has put the brakes on foreign investment...Comment

just look at the history of the devaluation of the dollar and see. Part of the reason it is flat is because of the rise in price because of the dollar.
One of the thing you invest in, when the dollar devalue is property because the price don't go down. Common sense will tell you that if the dollar value 1-1 and the price of your property is 10.00 after the devaluation you maybe able to buy it for less in US, while more in Jamaican dollar. That has been the history of Jamaican property price.
