"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
Hopefully she uses the next 90 days to impress somewhat. Carl Williams was a failure..hope she can do better. If a commissioner is not reducing crime then they are failing at the job
nothing gonna change...she is already spouting the same stupidness all the other commissioners did..."the JCF is not responsible for collecting fines"...no you aren't but you are responsible for locking up people driving with 100 undpaid tickets...instead of just giving them another & sending them on their way...same old myopic leadership
One simple blaring FACT that is overlooked in Jamaica is the need for job creation.
There MUST be some way in creating a system that employs long-term cheap labor.
This would have the greatest impact in crime reduction.
The current approach is to by brute force... eradicate the current criminals [as espoused by the new leadership].
The irony is that the Jamaican system is design to recycle and replace those criminals killed .................
Simple (easy) remedy as BrickT mentioned, like strict enforcement of paying traffic tickets is above the skill set of these commissioners. How the 'ell can they handle and manage crime?
crime & violence is one thing...but the general disregard for rules in every day life is another...we have a myriad of laws on the books...they just aren't enforced...
