I think he is wrong that there will be no replacement for Obamacare. More likely is that it will be replaced with something that looks very much like it under the packaging, but is marketed as something new and different.

One of the biggest reasons for Obamacare demise is that Democrats mostly ran away from it and Republicans constantly campaigned on it as something to get rid of. It's reputation was tainted very early, and it never recovered from that.

I think that he is right, because it will take years to replace and it is going to be messy as the republicans never had a plan and still don't have one except savings account.

Obama was very open to the Republicans to come onboard and offer any thing, he even cut out the public option just to appease them but as long as it was going to be Obama's plan they wanted no part except repeal.

Show me where they offered any assistance or ammendment. Let us see how many people will lose their insurance in the next year and hospitals talking about going out of business dealing with the uninsured.

Paul Ryan and others have outlined replacement plans, it's a myth that they don't have any plan. Obviously they don't have all the details because they knew it couldn't get past Obama but the general concept is fairly clear, use tax credits and Health Savings accounts instead of subsidies and penalties to make working class people's premiums more affordable. For the destitute there is already Medicaid. All the Republican proposals include keeping the preexisiting conditions and adult children on policy parts of Obamacare. The biggest problem any replacement plan has will be what to do about the individual mandate, because without something like that it is difficult to make the insurance pool healthy enough to be sustainable.

The transition from Obamacare to whatever replaces it is the trickiest part which could be chaotic, Krugman is probably correct that Obamacare will take the blame for the chaos. The idea that it won't be replaced with anything is Democrat fantasy in my view. Republicans are not stupid, Democrats only think they are.

As I said the only plan they have is for savings account and maybe I should say tax credit. Show me anything else the republicans have ever proposed. If you have a good plan, why hide it.The Paul Ryan plan has been public for a long time. Obama plan had tax credit for people who pay insurance too.

Give it two years and I think people will be bawling for Obama care with minor changes.

But what else is there to propose? The benefits will basically be the same, the big issues are how to pay for it and how to get healthy people to sign up.

Most people believe you need an individual mandate of some type but Republicans have branded the mandate as socialism and unconstitutional so they will have to find another way. That is their biggest problem to solve.

Most people don't even really know what Obamacare is because it is so complicated so it's not that hard to feed misinformation about it.

Obamacare might be repealed before the end of inauguration night. Replacing it fully will take years.

The biggest problem with ACA is that it is "Obama Care" half of the people who hate it do so because it was proposed by him, they have no clue about the the complication, and a lot of the misinformation is spread by the republicans as usual.

20 million more people have insurance. It is blocked by governors only because they are republicans and want to block Obama. I remember in the last 10 years how many health facilities in Georgia and NY were saying that they had a hard time keeping doors open because of uninsured they had to deal with. Now you don't hear that complaint anymore. Savings account is good when you have money or can save, and most Americans are struggling to save. The republican plan will cover less americans and despite word it is going to cost less, for more people it will cost more and tax credit will be most for the upper middle class.

Republicans had the house and senate for most of the last 2.5 decade and only Obama and Hillary Clinton has tried at Healthcare law, hopefully they will at least attempt to pass a decent law. The problem is the private firms make more money without government regulations and that is the hidden pack with the republicans.
