The EPOC co-chair said Jamaica also outperformed targets for taxes and grants to record approximately $235 billion for the first six months of the fiscal year. This exceeded the target by some $13 billion. This is 11.6 per cent above the figures for the similar period last year
    .......
Meanwhile, the country spent $6.4 billion less than the target to record an expenditure of $253 billion for the April to September period.
    .......
For the calendar year to date, inflation was 0.8 per cent and 1.9 per cent for the trailing 12 months

I remember the Seaga years! ...all manner of targets were exceeded including thats the suffering of the vast majority of citizens...whose vast majority of sufferers increased alarmingly!

....so are the number of suffers going down or even the 2nd option of rising at a slower rate?

Karl growth in one quarter or one year don't mean everybody going to benefit immediately. Over time. 2 percent growth in Ja may mean more jobs and opportunities plus taxes paid.

At the very least it means some improvments in the govts ability to service its debt. Low inflation, in fact historically low by JA standards, is a stabilizing force for business and consumers.

Other than that, its just a signal that some of the positive signs which started towards the end of the PNP term are continuing under the JLP term. A very long way to go for any of this to be considered a trend.

IDB president impressed with Jamaica’s economic progress

            Monday, December 22, 2014

LUIS Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) left behind a feel-good message for the Government and those watching over the Jamaican economy, saying he was "truly impressed" with the country's progress since his last visit.

Wrapping up his well-received visit last Friday, Moreno noted that debt-to-GDP was on a downward trajectory, growth had restarted, inflation was under control, the current account and reserves had experienced remarkable improvements, the labour market had stabilised, and the unemployment rate was declining.
